3 Simple Ways to Define Holes in Your Brand Messaging

By: The Visual Collective

First off, I am an advocate for a strong brand - which includes identity, tone and messaging. But you all knew that… I mean as a branding expert and design studio owner, you have to be right?

As the world continues to shift more and more into digital presences, brand messaging is more important than ever.

Rule #1 of good branding practices:

As a brand, you should keep your messaging consistent across all platforms and branding aspects - like product tags, labels etc.

This is so, so, so important! You want your customers to build a relationship with you and your business branding. This can only be done when they feel that your brand has a solid “personality” or “identity.”

Recently, I have been noticing a few brands (even big established ones…) with holes in their messaging. This is why today, I have put together a few check-ins to make sure your brand messaging is bulletproof.

So, what are they?

3 Ways To Define Holes In Your Brand Messaging:

1. You find it hard to write captions or website copy.
This is most likely because you are not clear on your voice and personality. . .

2. You are not clear on your mission and purpose!
What is your WHAT & WHY?

3. You seem to be attracting the wrong clients.
The clients you have just don't seem to align with your purpose or services…

Get clear on these 3 steps and you will be well on your way to a stronger brand presence!

Pro Tip: Use this exercise to define your brand voice:

Clarify both what attributes your brand has and attributes it does not have.

For example: “My brand is informational, but not complex.”

Or…

“We are playful, but we are not childish.”

Be sure to make all your brand messaging relatable to your niche audience. As these are the people you are wanting to reach + convert!

Having clear messaging will encourage buyers and bring more positive energy and following for your business. Trust me, this is a great thing to have in business these days.
