Changing career paths… Let’s talk about it

In the ‘old days’ (stay with me here 🙈) we went to school, picked a career (or worse; someone else chose for you!) and headed off to university or tafe before staying in that same job for the rest of our lives.

We went to work every day. Worked 9-5, came home, went to bed just to wake up and do it all over again the next day.  

Whilst some of us may have dreamed of a different career path... society told us otherwise... you picked it when you were 17 & you stayed with it for life.

Nowadays we go to school, we might have a career advisor who helps us find a suitable job, we work towards that goal and off we go!

Others might take a year off to travel the world & pick up some part time work in a cafe on the beach, or do work experience to find out where their passions lay.

Some of us even start businesses as a hobby just to see where it takes us!

The thing is… you’re NOT destined to stay in one job forever!

Change can be scary.

Especially when it comes to changing career paths… There seems to be an unwritten rule within society that changing your career goals once you’ve surpassed the ripe old age of 23 is a no go.

But hear me out for a second…

What you're doing right now may have suited you back then, but maybe your financial goals have changed, or you’re craving a better work/ life balance, maybe a less stressful job!

Whatever it is; make sure you do what YOU like & like what YOU do.

If that’s starting a side hustle to give yourself a creative outlet on the side of your current job, that’s awesome!

If that’s working hard to build an empire out of your back shed, incredible!

There are no rules. You control the narrative!
