Turning an Empty Building into a Boutique Pilates & Sauna Studio

For Part 3 of my Local Business Glow Up Series, I wanted to try something a little different.

Rather than refreshing an existing local business, this concept started with an empty building for lease in Port Lincoln and one simple question:

What could this space become?

The answer was Revive, a boutique Pilates and sauna studio designed around movement, heat, recovery and calm.

This project was not about creating a fantasy fit-out that ignored the building. It was about looking at the existing bones of the space, the large shopfront windows, the character facade, the split interior layout and even the slightly awkward ramp/step in the middle of the room, and imagining how those elements could work together to create a considered, high-end wellness experience.

The Concept

Revive was imagined as a boutique wellness studio offering reformer Pilates, sauna, recovery therapies and small treatment services.

The goal was to create something that felt elevated and calming, but still realistic for a regional location like Port Lincoln. Not overly flashy, not too clinical and not so luxurious that it felt out of reach.

The overall brand direction was:

Grounding. Intentional. Elevated. Calm. Restorative.

The studio needed to feel like a place where clients could reset, strengthen, recover and reconnect with themselves.

Working With the Existing Building

One of the strongest parts of this concept was the building itself.

It already had great bones: a charming facade, strong black window framing, large street-facing windows and a layout that naturally separated the space into different zones.

Instead of trying to completely reinvent the building, the concept worked with what was already there.

The left side became the reformer Pilates studio, with machines visible through the large window, soft sheer curtains, mirrors, warm lighting and Pilates accessories displayed along the wall.

The right side became the reception and retail area, with a curved desk, branded signage, product shelving and a warm welcome moment as clients enter the studio.

Behind the reception area, the sauna, bathroom and recovery spaces were imagined as a calm retreat, creating a sense of flow from the moment someone walks through the door.

A small treatment room was also included for services such as massage, lymphatic drainage, compression therapy and recovery treatments.

The Brand Identity

The Revive brand identity was designed to feel soft, sculptural and modern.

The logo uses a lowercase wordmark with custom curves, giving it a high-end but approachable feel. The typography is minimal and elegant, with a calm, spacious layout that reflects the studio experience.

The colour palette was earthy and soft, using sage, clay, oat, bone, stone and espresso tones. These colours were chosen to feel warm, natural and soothing, while still giving the brand enough depth to feel premium.

The materials and textures were also a key part of the identity. Limewash walls, natural oak, travertine stone, ribbed glass, linen texture and bouclé-style fabrics helped shape the visual direction for the interiors and brand applications.

This Brand Is Now Available as a Pre-Made Brand Identity

After creating the Revive concept, I realised this brand direction had so much potential beyond this one imagined studio.

So this brand identity is now available to purchase as a pre-made brand, ready to be customised for the right business.

While it has been shown here as a Pilates and sauna studio, the overall direction could be adapted for a range of wellness, beauty, lifestyle or service-based businesses. Final Thoughts

Revive started as a concept project, but it is also a good example of what can happen when you look at an empty building, or an existing business, with a brand-first mindset.

The space becomes more than four walls. It becomes a business idea, a customer experience and a visual story.

This is the kind of work I love doing: taking a business, building or idea and creating a brand world around it that feels strategic, beautiful and commercially considered.
