5 Signs that you need a NEW website or refresh.

By: The Visual Collective

I totally get it . . . the list of things to do each week is always getting longer and longer BUT I am here to kindly remind you that the website you created when you first started just isn't cutting it.

Websites are arguably the most important marketing tool for your business, this is where you direct customers and convert traffic into sales.

You want this space to not only be aesthetically pleasing for customers but streamlined & easy to navigate. If a customer lands on your website and isn’t able to find what they’re looking for quickly & with ease, then chances are they’re not going to stay there for long. And just like that, you’ve lost a sale.

For such an important marketing tool people often forget that it needs a lot of TLC 🥰

If your business is evolving, your website needs to be evolving with it. There’s nothing worse than being influenced by a social post to visit a brand's website, only to find that what you’re being sold… isn’t even there?

This dissonance between your media platforms may leave a sour taste in your audience’s mouths. And this is obviously not ideal.

So how do you know if your website needs a little TLC?

Here are 5 signs that you may need a new website…or at the very least a little update:

1. Your site is outdated

Your pricing is wrong, there are services listed that aren't actually available anymore and your branding is outdated. As I mentioned earlier, this is not going to give your customers a very positive impression of your brand.

When you direct a customer to your website, you want them to have a pleasant experience… an experience that’s going to make them want to come back again.

2. It's not converting

You're getting the traffic onto your site but the sales aren't coming through. This is a great problem to have . . . you've already done that hard part, you've gotten people onto your site. Now you need to work on how to keep them engaged and CONVERT.

There are a number of reasons why you may be having this problem, and a great place to start working towards a solution is by doing a quick audit of your site, and making any necessary changes where you see fit.

When you're doing this, think like a customer. If you were visiting your website, what would make this experience easier for you?

Is it easy to navigate? Are your prices accurate? Is the site visually appealing and does it fit your brand aesthetic?

What changes can you make that would entice a sale?

Today’s consumers are what you might call a little lazy & spoilt for choice. If your site isn’t delivering to the standard expected by your customers, they are more than likely going to find an easier option…

3. You can't update your site yourself

There's no use having a fancy website if you can't actually make small edits and updates yourself. Your business is constantly evolving and requires updating along the way.

Work with someone that can advise you on a platform that works for you.

4. Your user experience isn't streamlined

If you're not getting enquiries and your site isn't converting then your user experience may be too convoluted. There are too many options & distractions for people these days!
You need to make the decisions for your audience and take the decision making out of the process… We’re a little spoilt for choice, remember? So, if people have time to think you will most likely lose them for a period of time or sadly to a better offer.

5. You hate the look of it

This seems simple enough but the number of people that persist with a site that they cannot stand is crazy to me. I hear it all the time, It’s too hard, It’ll take too long, I don't know where to start…

Well I’m telling you right now, it will be SO worth it!

You need to be proud of your work and be able to confidently sell your marketing.

If you hate it, it's definitely time for an update.
